What is NOVACard?
Your NOVACard is the official Northern Virginia Community College Identification.
Where can I get my NOVACard?
You can get your card at any NOVACard Office on any NOVA campus.
What do I need in order to get a NOVACard ID?
You must be currently enrolled in credit classes at NOVA and have a government issued photo ID with you – Example: a driver’s license or passport.
Can I withdraw cash from my NOVACard?
No, the NOVACard is not a debit card. You can pre-pay for NOVACard services at a NOVACard CSVT Machine. The balance on your card can only be used for pre-paid services. The NOVACard CSVT machine does not give change.
Is there a minimum amount of money required to start an account?
There is no fee to start an account but there is a minimum value of one dollar.
Is the NOVACard ID required?
The NOVACard is free for currently enrolled credit students, but is not required. You may purchase a guest card instead.
What is a Guest Card?
As stated above, Guest Cards can be purchased at NOVACard CSVT machines. Guest Cards can be purchased for $1 and come with a $0.60 balance. The Guest Cards are non-refundable if they are lost. You can add money to your Guest Card after the initial purchase.

What if my NOVACard is denied by a machine?
Check to see that you have money in your account by doing a balance inquiry at a NOVACard CSVT machine. If the machine shows that you still have money left on your card, please go to any NOVACard Office for assistance.
Where can I deposit money into my NOVACard account?
You can deposit money into your account by going to one of the NOVACard CSVT machines located around campus. They are typically located in the dining facilities or libraries on each campus.
How can I add money to my NOVACard account?
The NOVACard CSVT machines accept cash only - no credit cards or coins. The machines accept only $1, $5, $10 and $20 bills. No change will be given. Follow the step by step instructions on the CSVT machine. You may also go to any NOVACard Office to make a deposit on your account using cash, debit or credit card.
What are the benefits of having a NOVACard?
NOVACard is the official Northern Virginia Community College identification card. Benefits and services provided include:
- Use NOVACard at campus libraries to check out books.
- Eligible financial aid recipients can charge books to their financial aid using the NOVACard as identification. Contact the financial aid office for details.
- Pay with NOVACard at Janice's Espresso Bar (Alexandria Campus), Food for Thought (Loudoun Campus), Carbar Cafe (Woodbridge Campus) and Kate's Cafe (Manassas Campus).
- Discount printing in the labs.
- Discount copies using designated copiers in campus libraries.
- Access to the parking garages at the Annandale Campus and Medical Education Campus in Springfield (with a valid parking permit).
- Access to the building at the Reston Center.
- Access to the Alexandria Campus Fitness Center.
Is there a transaction fee to use my NOVACard?
No.
How many times can I use my NOVACard?
Unlimited amount as long as there is sufficient balance on the account.
