Policy Statement

An individual who is enrolled in credit classes at Northern Virginia Community College is eligible to obtain a NOVACard free of charge. Your official name as it appears in the college database will be printed on the card. The card is valid for two years. All transactions are recorded and a report on transactions can be obtained from the NOVACard office if requested. Protect your NOVACard from damage by keeping it in a protective sleeve. Do not lend your card to others. Do not punch holes, attach stickers, or in any way modify your NOVACard. Doing so will create problems when using your card. Any misuse, alteration or fabrication of the card will subject the holder to disciplinary action by the College.

Refund/Closing Account Policy

You can continue spending your balance as long as your NOVACard is active. Students who graduate or formally resign from the college may be eligible for a refund. To request a refund, you must complete a refund request form and submit it to any of the NOVACard offices. If you are eligible, the college will refund the remaining balance of your NOVACard account less a $10 refund-processing fee. Patrons are encouraged to spend remaining balances at any of the participating NOVACard locations.A refund request form must be submitted to the NOVACard office and approved by the NOVACard supervisor. 

Inactive Card Policy

Your NOVACard will continue to be active during your enrollment at NOVA. Your NOVACard will expire two years after the date of issue.

Photo Identification Policy:

As a secondary form of identification, NOVACard follows government issued photo identification policies which require full faced photos. NOVACard Id Photos require that no item or attire should cover or obscure any part of the face. For more policy details or special arrangements, contact any NOVACard Office location. 

Please Note: Special accommodations can be made if student/faculty/staff require a closed environment for a full faced photo.

Procedures

To deposit money on your NOVACard

The NOVACard CSVT machines accept cash only - no credit cards or coins. The machines accept only $1, $5, $10 and $20 bills. No change will be given. Follow the step by step instructions on the CSVT machine. You may also go to any NOVACard Office to make a deposit on your account using cash, debit or credit card.
